Following article is the management summary of my personal vision paper how to use blockchain, IoT and AI for a good purpose. I hope it provides you an insight of my creativity and strategic thinking
In Switzerland, CHF 1.8 billion was donated in 2015. Approximately 1/3 comes from the public sector or from companies and 2/3 comes from private households. If you calculate this amount worldwide, you get several hundred billion Swiss francs in donations, alone for humanitarian purposes. Non-profit organizations have a great responsibility towards donors and those seeking help to use the funds in a targeted, fast and secure manner. Due to a lack of infrastructure and high costs, transferring resources to remote locations is a major challenge. Technologies such as Blockchain, Smart Contracts and IoT applications help to turn the donation process into an experience. A block chain is a distributed register to perform transactions without a coordinating point. The concept is based on a common consensus finding in the blockchain. Direct transaction processing reduces costs and transfers are carried out every minute. Worldwide, approx. 2.7 billion Smart phones used, each of these devices is a potential action point in the blockchain. Smart contracts allow block chain transactions to be linked to contractual conditions. Donors can thus determine for themselves the conditions under which a resource is to be transferred. Internet of Things devices allow you to check contractual conditions in real time. With the help of a smart phone application, donors can be offered very personal projects that urgently need help, for example. The donation can be initiated in a few steps and the donor will receive a response as soon as the help arrives. This paper deals with the answering of two vision statements: Vision Statement 1:"Blockchain solutions will revolutionize the donation process in the future and thus make it more diverse, simpler, more transparent, faster and safer". Vision Statement 2:"Donors are open to new technologies that simplify the donation process and make it more transparent". A practical use case has been set up to answer Vision Statement 1. It shows how a concrete implementation with block chain, Smart Contract and IoT connection could look like. Technological advances are very promising, but a unified Blockchain standard must be defined to include the entire value chain in the Blockchain. To answer Vision Statement 2, a survey of donors was conducted, showing that 70% of those under 39 would use a donation app. For people over 40 years of age, this share is still 49%, which is very positive. More than 70% of the donors want even more transparency. With the help of the technologies described in the use case, this could be implemented. Based on the technological prospects and survey results, both Vision Statements can be answered with a yes. Technological progress in block chain, smart contracts and IoT is enormous. From the NGO's point of view, it is recommended to wait until the maturity of standardization has reached such an advanced stage that a standardized solution is available on the market. This work shows that this will not take too Long.
